i LOVE the fall!

I was having a hard day and feeling bad about Brady's new diagnosis and I really didn't feel like going anywhere once I got home from work. But the kids wanted to go to the Corn Maze in Ontario so we went and I was so glad we did. The kids had so much fun. Kacie has gone before but this was Brady and my first time in a corn maze, can you believe that.
We got through the maze pretty easy, but Brady didn't want anything to do with it once it got dark.

Brady loved the cow ride...it was fun!
We also enjoyed the hay ride...
and the kids loved the mini maze too!
I stayed with Taylor and Brady while the others went back to the corn maze in the dark.

Straw Mountain!

It was a fun night...nothing like hearing the sounds of children's laughter to brighten your mood.

Kacie's Last XC Race

Kacie ran in her last cross country race at West Park in Nampa. It was a 3K and she finally met her goal of not walking any part of it and so she was able to improve her time at 20.57. I'm so proud of her for sticking it out. I know it wasn't an easy thing for her to do. Kacie is more of a sprinter than a long distant runner, but this will give her more confidence for track in the spring. I told her she shouldn't have any hesitation now about running a 400 meter.

The Nyssa Girl's team took 1st place and the boy's got 3rd. Good job Nyssa!!!

Brady turns 7

Party at School...Mrs Johnson is Brady's PE/Music teacher and we just love her. Brady promised to give her a chocolate cupcake and she made him keep his word... luckily we had enough.Family Party...We have loved having Aunt Anita living so close...I have defiantly had cakes that looked better but never one that tasted so good. It was a chocolate cake with chocolate chips and it had a chocolate mousse filling.Brady got his favorite things, toy story stuff, marble races, candy corns and some money... I would say he got pretty spoiled by everyone. We were lucky to have Reid, Brielle and Sadie visit for the weekend. Reid came up to go pheasant hunting and he also helped us put in a new heat pump. It was fun to have them here for Brady's party also. We sure wish they lived closer.

Roger Curran Invitational, Nampa Sept 10th

It was fun to see Brittany and Brooke run. (Brooke pictured above) They did really well. Brittany got 10th for Eagle JV and Brooke got 11th for Eagle Varsity. Waiting for Kacie's race to start. Gerald and Wanda are always so good to support their grandchildren. Grandma Sue wanted to be there too, but wasn't able to. Aunt Anita was put in the hospital Sept. 4th and is now living with them until she can get her cottage built by the house.Mallory Jensen, Kacie, Sailor & Regan Hartley, Syra Phillips, Corrin Shuster & Jocie Hartley
Kacie had a harder time today due to the heat and her race was at 1:30 so she didn't PR at 22.05 minutes. Brooke was so good to cheer her on by running beside her and it was really nice of Nanette to buy her a T-shirt. Kacie's team was able to go to Roaring Springs after and she had a really good time, but boy was she ever ready for bed by 10pm and getting up for church was not fun, but she made it. Thank goodness they had some playground equipment to keep Brady entertained, plus he had a friend to play with also...Nate Jensen. They were cute together. After the races, Brady and I went to see Brandon and give him some Nike shirts for school. He didn't talk, but he gave us a big hug and kiss.

Kacie's Running Cross Country

We are so proud of Kacie doing cross country this year. It hasn't been easy for her, but we are so glad that she is willing to try. August 26th was her first time trial of 1.3 miles. It was 100 degrees and I was a little scared she wasn't going to make it, but she finished it (15.31 min) which is what counted. After the race she said her kidney was hurting. The following Sunday we had to take her to the doctor for a UTI and the doc said she was showing signs of dehydration so the next day I called her kidney doctor, Dr. Jenkins, and he wasn't too concerned about her. He just said to make sure she keeps drinking lots of water during the day and that she was probably just mistaking a side ache as her kidney pain. He really wanted to encourage her to keep running because it will be so good for her. That was a relief.

Her first official race was in New Plymouth on September 1st (our 22nd Anniversary). She ran a 3000 meter which is 1.9 miles. We were both so happy that she wasn't last, in fact there were six behind her. She did it in 21.02 min. Gerald and Wanda came to cheer her on which was really nice. Kacie said it was fun and not as long as she thought it was going to be. Hopefully each time she can gain more and more confidence that she can do it. I keep telling her what counts is that she improves each time and that she finishes the race. Kacie's team, The Nyssa Middle School girls got 1st place!!!
