Track Starts

Nyssa had their first track meet at the Ontario Ice Breaker on March 18th.  Kacie didn't do too bad for her first meet of the year.  She ran the 100m and got 11th with a time of 14.73.  Got 5th in the long jump at 13'5'' and 6th in the triple at 26'2''.  She also ran the 4x400 and they got 6th with a time of 5:10.4.

After the meet Steele sent Kacie another breakup text so Kacie was all upset again.  You would think she would get used to this.  I was glad Jocelyn was with us so she could help cheer her up.  She stayed with us a couple of nights while her parents took Allie to the MTC.  Kacie didn't sleep well and so she missed a couple of periods of schools and was very emotional all day and so she wasn't up to track practice either.  I was so worried about her that I called one of the school counselors to talk to her.  Kacie was very mad I did that but then she said she really helped her. Kacie went with Mom to take Jocelyn to her gymnastics in Nampa.  While she was at practice the two of them went to see Dee and Jeannetta Garner in the Hospital. Mom said she was really impressed with how well Kacie handled herself with them and was really engaged in the conversation.  Kacie later told me how much she enjoyed it.  This was one situation where missing track practice was better for her.  Service always makes you feel better.  I shared this quote for Kacie on instagram.  I LOVE this...so good!

Thursday March 20th, Kacie was working on hand-offs in the 4x100 and the girl ran right up on her and they got their legs tangled and Kacie did a faceplant on the track.  Her coach said it was bad but also couldn't help from laughing.  I felt bad this happened the day before her next meet.

Friday, March 21st, Kacie had a meet at Harper and Scott was in charge of the timers.  He was so proud of his door that they decorated at the school that he had to show us.  All the teachers had a contest where they were suppose to decorate their door with a college mascot.  Everyone else did big time schools and he chose the Fighting Pickles.  He is such a nut.

Kacie's leg was hurting her so bad that she scratched the open 400 and the triple jump.  In the long jump she got 5th again with 13'8" and she ran in the 4x100 and they got 3rd with a time of 57.68.  Taylor spent the night with us so she could go too.

After the meet we went to Pizza Hut and when we were headed back to Nyssa, Sydney and Jocelyn called and invited Kacie and I to the movies.  We went to see Divergent.  It was fun!  It must have been a good movie to keep me awake I was so tired.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Mom took Kacie to her conferences while Scott and I were at Brady's.  His teacher was impressed with the improvement that he has made.  He has gone from blank journey entry's to writing a whole page and he nearly met on his State math test.  He has also memorized all his multiplcation facts and is a really good speller.  Reading is still a big challenge for him and he has a lot of catching up to do.

 Coloring has never been one of his strengths, but I'm sure it's because he could careless about it.  I still thought it was cute.

Kacie's grades dropped a little and I'm sure it is because of all the boy trauma she has had.  That girl misses so much school so that would help a lot if she would just improve on it and read.  She is such a good reader but hates doing it.  Hopefully she can get them up by the end of the year.  Her Science teacher (Mr. Dickey) told her she is really smart to be getting a C+ with all the school she misses.  He also recognized that she must really struggle in the mornings and of course science is 1st period.

Mission Farewell and New Church Calling

Allison Harley did a wonderful job today at her mission farewell.  She will be serving in Oslo, Norway and the people there are going to be so blessed to have her.  She will be an amazing missionary.  We absolutely love their family.  I could claim Jocelyn as one of my own.

I got called to be the new Beehive adviser and so today was our last Sunday with our primary class.  I had already purchased these book-markers and made the chapsticks with 'I am a child of God' on them so I decided to make the unbirthday tags and give them out to each of them today.  We will miss this class of all girls.  (Zoey Phillips, Ambri Draper, London Hartley, Ellie Munk and Meg Woodruff) They were so cute when I handed them out because they couldn't figure out how I knew their favorite candy.  They forgot that in our first lesson they filled out an information form for us.  I made them promise to say Hi to me when they see me.  I'm sad I didn't think to get a picture.

Happy 45th Birthday Scott!!!

Scott finally broke down and got some bifocals.  We picked them up before we headed over to celebrate at the Cheesecake Factory for his birthday.  They look pretty good even though he doesn't look to happy in the picture. Ha!

 Our meals looked and tasted pretty good.  Mine's on top with the loaded potato soup with salad and a chicken salad sandwich. Scott got a portobello mushroom burger with salad.

 Scott was adamant that no one sing to him, but I still snuck it to the waiter that we were celebrating his birthday.  We decided to share a cheesecake and then three waiters brought it out and sang beautifully for him. It was fun, surprisingly he wasn't mad at me.

 Sunday after church we went into Scott's parents house for dinner and celebrate both Scott and Taylor's birthdays.  Can't believe Taylor is now 13 and a teenager.  Such a cutie! Love her!  It's always fun when we all get together.

Brady's Field Trip

I went with Brady and the third graders to an Ag out of the classroom day at the Payette Fairgrounds taught by the TVCC FFA.  I didn't want to go but Brady begged me so I went.  I was glad I did so I could be there for him.

The kids had a great time.  It was hard for Brady when they would ask them to pair up with someone.  I hated seeing him struggle with this and so I would have to step in and help.  Some would not hesitate to let him and others not so much.  When he got on the bus he was sad that no one would sit by him and so I tried to get him to sit by a boy that was sitting by himself and Brady wouldn't do it and I later found out that Brady has had problems with this boy in the past teasing him.  So sad, I hate it! I so wish he could find a friend.

Kids go to Utah!

Brady and Kacie went to Utah with Grandpa and Grandma to see Rosie's family. Kyle and Mckinley were in a Robin Hood play and they went to watch them. They had a quick trip. They left Friday and got back Sunday night.

Looks like a great play...wish I could have been there.  Brady absolutely loves going to plays...who knows maybe he will be in one someday.
