June 17th after spending half a day at Nauvoo and Carthage, IL we headed to St. Louis, MO. You can see how bad our windshield got after driving through all the mayflies near the Mississippi River.
We arrived sometime in the evening. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch Hotel and were on the seventh floor, room 701. We had a nice corner room with an awesome view of the Gateway Arch. We kind of splurged on this room because it cost $480.90 for the night. The room was only $340.05 but then when you add all the taxes ($67.85), $25.00 for a rollaway bed, and $48.00 for valet parking it adds up fast.
This was our amazing view from our room. Below we saw a plane advertising the Luke Combs concert that was going on at the Cardinals stadium the same night we were there.
We decided to walk to our dinner. We were a little nervous at first but it all went good.
We had a yummy meal at Condado Tacos. It was right next to the stadium so it was fun to hear the roar of the crowd from the Luke Combs concert going on. We were seated outside so we could hear a lot.
Scott and Brady got some yummy tacos and I got a bowl.
It was so fun to have this amazing view. After we got back to our room we watched more YouTube videos about the history of St. Louis. Sunday morning we checked out and went to the Gateway Arch Museum. We almost didn't make it to the show we had tickets for because getting to our car was so hectic. I finally asked them if we could just walk to our car and leave our luggage. I think we were only a couple of minutes late. The show talked about the making of the arch. It was pretty cool. We were all shocked when we learned that they never used any safety equipment when building it.
After the show, we went up to the top. We traveled up with a cute couple that came for the Luke Combs concert. Our little elevator was pretty small. All our knees were touching as we went up. Below was our view from the top 630 feet up.
After our trip up we went outside to see this fountain go off.
Supposedly it shoots as high as the Arch but we didn't believe it. haha!
We got some fun pictures.
This is the hotel we stayed at. We then went back to the museum and walked around.
We got Brady a T-shirt and another sticker for $22.90 and the pictures we took were $25.00.
It was pretty cool to see so much history of the church and this first edition of the Book of Mormon.
We then traveled out of the city and found this little place to eat lunch at the Lion's Choice.
It cost $26.37 for our meal and $13.01 for our dessert.
We then made our way to Kansas City, MO.
