Elder Talbot's last day at the Nyssa Food Pantry was on August 28, 2025. They really spoiled him good. They gave him a $50.00 Dutch Bros gift card and sticker, plus some cake, cookies, and a nice card with lots of sweet notes from everyone thanking him for all his service there.
On August 31, 2025, Elder Talbot did a wonderful job speaking in church about his mission. The stake president wasn't able to release him before church, so Brady is probably the first missionary to speak before being released. He had so many people tell him what a good job he did.
We had a really nice visit with his mission leaders, Kent and Teresa Howard, plus President Rod Nielsen.
We had a nice luncheon at Mom and Dad's house. Scott made some Mexican pork, and we made a yummy white cheese sauce for nachos. Marty Hunt brought some homemade refried beans that were so yummy. Donna brought some cut-up romaine lettuce for those that wanted to make a salad. Mom had some black beans and sliced olives. We also made some salsa from all the tomatoes and peppers from our garden. Tara and Lori brought cookies and bars, plus we had a Costco cake that Brady loves. Valeda and Melissa brought their yummy fruit salad. Rod and Launa also brought a fruit salad. Michele & Trevor Peterson brought watermelon. Brady remembers when they were his primary teachers and wanted to make sure they were invited. Michele said that made her day when she heard that.
We just missed Cole, Kacie, and Wade. Cole had to have his appendix removed on Thursday. We were so glad he went to the doctor when he did because if he would have waited another day, it could have burst. Juliene completely surprised us when she showed up before church started. She told us that on Saturday when she went to text Brady that she couldn't come because Rosie was sick and that was her ride, she saw the picture taken of the two of them at Ray's homecoming and she didn't have the heart to tell him so she just got in the car and came. Dale told her if he didn't have to conduct sacrament meeting he would have come too.
It was fun that Weston and Tara's families stayed and played games with us. They left around 10:30.
I feel bad I didn't get pictures of everyone, but we are so grateful for everyone that came and supported Brady. We look forward to his future.
On Friday, September 5, 2025, Brady's zone had a funeral service for him. They even had scalloped potatoes, ham, salad, and chocolate cake. Brady said it was a lot of fun. I love that they do this. I think it is pretty unique to their zone. I love that they even made a program and put Brady's favorite quote from Freaky and Freakier Friday. He even included it in his talk.
