Kacie's Illness...

On Feb 23rd Kacie came home early from school with a really bad headache, so bad that she called me at work and wanted me to come home with her.  When I got home I took her blood pressure and it was really high so I took her to the doctor.  Because Kacie has had so much trouble with Strep infections and with her bad headache and high blood pressure they were worried that the strep had gotten into her kidneys so they sent her to the ER to get an IV and be tested.  That really scared me.
Luckily the nephritis in the kidney was negative but they had to give her some really strong pain killers for her head and even did a Cat-scan to make sure her head was okay.  Our bishop Kevin Draper visited with his counselor Lance Peterson.  They even went and got us some smoothies from Dutch Bros which was really nice.  Scott and my Dad also came and gave her a blessing. We got home around midnight and she didn't get any relief from her headache until 5:00 am the next day. We had to see the kidney specialist in Boise and they thought the kidneys were fine but had her take a flu test and that was positive.  So they think the headache was a result of dehydration of the kidneys and the bad headache caused the high blood pressure.

So on Thursday the 26th Kacie still was eating and drinking much so I took her back into the pediatrician.  The doctor gave her another IV but luckily we didn't have to go back to the ER.  Dunbrasky did a lot better job and getting her IV in than the ER did.  They gave her 1 1/2 more units of fluids and then left the IV in just in case she needed more the next day.

I felt bad I had to miss Brady's pack meeting.  Scott and Brady made an OREO shaped cake for a cake baking contest.  I guess it was a big hit because none of it was left over. I felt bad we never got a picture of it.  They won Coolest cake and Scout's Choice awards.  I'm so grateful for a good and supportive husband that could take him.  I don't know how single parents do it.
