Huntington Tournament...

Friday I closed the office early around 2:30 so I could go watch Lindsay and Scott's team at the Huntington tournament.  The girls beat Cove and also the boys 42-8.  We then had to watch two other games before they both played Prairie City.  The girls won but I was pretty worried about the boys game.  They were behind the whole game until the 4th quarter when Scott had them start full court pressing and they worked their butts off with a huge comeback win.  They kept missing their layups but Scott told them to keep doing what they were doing that they would eventually fall in the basket and sure enough they ended up winning.  It was so exciting!!  I may have lost my voice for a little while...haha!!
End of the Cove game 42-8
End of the Prairie City game.
Saturday the girls played Willow Valley in the championship game and lost but we were so proud of them making second place!!  And Lindsay and Molly both got the MVP!

Scott's team won it all over Four Rivers 39-17
I was so happy for Scott.! I don't think he ever stopped smiling!  I think they said it's been about 19 or 20 years since Harper has won and Gerald was the coach.  The boys were pretty happy!

MVPs Lindsay and Molly Romans plus coach Brooke Johnson

Jeremy and Cannon Hiatt are so cute!  Scott loves these boys! Cannon got the MVP!  We know that their dad is so proud looking down from heaven we sure miss Calvin!  Scott and him had big plans and talked often about this being the year Harper was going to win and they did it!!!
Scotty also got MVP!
Bryson is 7th grader so Scott is glad to know he will be coming back next year!

Another fun, fun day of basketball!!!

Tribute to G.T.

I took Gerald to the Nyssa Girl's State Playoff game with me and then Scott met us in there because he had to leave early to go to the Huntington tournament.  Before the game Coach Chamberlain and Coach DeAnda came over to visit with Gerald.  I wanted to get a picture of them because Coach DeAnda is wearing one of their shirts with Gerald's bulldog on it.  I thought that was so cool!  The 2nd ranked (24-2) Nyssa girls played so good!  They were ahead 19-4 after the 1st quarter and 41-16 at the half.  They ended up beating Clatskanie 68-41. Gracie Johnson had 25 points.  With about a minute left in the game Nyssa called a time out and they announced that they would like everyone to stay after the game for a presentation.  Well you might say Gerald was pretty surprised when they said they wanted to honor a legend in Nyssa boys basketball.  I was so happy I was there and was able to video it.  It was pretty cool and very well deserved.  What was so impressive is how everyone stayed to watch and even the visiting team.  I was just sad that the rest of the family wasn't there to see it but at least I got it on video.

They gave him this cool sign which I noticed as we were leaving that another one was hanging up in the gym.  They also gave him and wanda t-shirts, sweatshirts and a hat with his bulldog on it.
This is the bulldog they used for all the basketball gear!!!
As they were loading me up with all his new gear I asked for their notes and they gave them to us too!  I thought they all said some really nice things about our awesome Coach Gerald Talbot or G.T...pretty special and definitely well deserved!!!

Burley Girl's State Basketball...

On Friday February 18th A bunch of us went to watch Lorien Schulthies play basketball in the 4A Idaho State playoffs with her team from Burley Idaho.  She didn't get a lot of playing time only being a sophomore but it was still super fun to watch and support her.  Tara and Tommy took Brady with them to do baptisms at the Meridian temple and then they met us there after.

Since they won on Friday 49-36 agains Preston we decided to go back and watch the Championship game on Saturday against Skyline,  Burley killed them 58-43 since the undefeated Blackfoot team got beat in the prior game 50-48.  We stayed and watched the first half of the 5A game with Boise and Timberline.  Timberline won 36-35.  It was a fun weekend of basketball.

We are so happy for Lorien!!

Oregon women's basketball commit, Amari Whiting (junior) broke 3 state tournament records this weekend and now holds five records.  She broke her record of most points in a 4A tournament with a new total of 89 points! (prev. 82 points). She also broke her record of highest average points with 29.7 ppg.  She set a new record of 28 free throws (prev. 26) She tied her record of total field goals made with 28 field goals as well!  Amari's 5th record is one she set last year in the first game of the tournament against Middleton where she scored 37 points.

She was pretty fun to watch and it will be exciting to continue to watch her basketball career.  I guess she has a brother serving a mission right now and is committed to play for BSU which is cool too!

Valentine's, New Puzzle & New Chair...

Brady and Scott's Valentine's!
Saturday when we were at Costco Scott found these German chocolates he was looking for at Epcot.  We thought it was so funny that we found them in Costco in Nampa ID and not Germany in the World Showcase at Epcot.  I had to send Kacie a picture.  I told him that was going to be part of his Valentine's. haha!
Norma was so nice and gave me a beautiful flower arrangement in a pretty white vase with three little white hearts outlined in gold.  She saw this puzzle I was working on and she loved it and that lead to a really nice visit about all our different travel adventures.  Surprisingly we have traveled to a lot of the same places.   After she left I finally finished it.  It was one of the harder puzzled I have done.  I thinking about glueing it and getting it framed.

Tuesday the 15th I was scrolling through Facebook and found this chair that Tyler and Celeste Osborn was selling so I messaged her and told her I wanted it.  Around noon I went to help at the VAL Charolais Bull sale then after that I went to their house and picked it up.  I'm really hoping we can fix the rip in the arm.  Celeste didn't realize it had a rip until after I agreed to buy it.

Marty Hunt was so nice to come to the house and she did a wonderful job fixing it.  I'm so happy with how it turned out and it fits perfectly in our front living room and it matches really well with our leather couch.

Super Bowl LVI...

For our Super Bowl party at Ron and Stacie's we were in charge of bringing Doritos, sour cream and a dessert.  I told Scott I wanted to do something in our trifle bowl so Scott found this amazing dessert.  I believe it is now a new family favorite.  We made scratch brownies, a chocolate mousse and whipped up heavy whipping cream plus the raspberries.  It was so yummy!
It's always a good time when we all get together!!

I'm loving my new 50th Anniversary shirt from Disney World!

The Los Angeles Rams are Super Bowl LVI champions after a 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals at SoFi Stadium in LA which cost 4 billion dollars to build which is so crazy to me.  Rams receiver Cooper Kupp was named Super Bowl MVP with 8 catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns including the game-winning 1-yard score with 1:20 remaining.  It was a fun game and a great day!

Half-time was performed by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 cents.  The Eminem song was the only one I recognized....I must be getting old! haha!
